ISSF Target Sprint World Championship in Dingolfing, Germany cancelled due to low entry numbers

Next month’s scheduled ISST Target Sprint World Championship in Dingolfing, Germany has been cancelled due to the low number of entries.

The ISSF announced that it had “heavy-heartedly” decided to take this action in conjunction with the German Shooting Sport Federation after the latter had been “very disappointed” to note that by the final deadline there were only nine nations – and 50 athletes – planning to compete, with two of the countries facing possible difficulties regarding visas.

"This also means that due to the relevant requirements of the ISSF no World Championship titles could be awarded in several events,” an ISSF release said. “In other events, the number of starters would at least not be worthy of a World Championship.

“Given this disappointing situation - for the registered National Federations, their athletes and coaches, but also for the German Shooting Sport Federation with its organising committee – the German Shooting Sport Federation and the ISSF have heavy-heartedly decided to cancel this year’s ISSF Target Sprint World Championship.

“We highly regret this decision, and we know that the cancellation is also disappointing news to the whole international shooting sport family and to all of those involved in the planning and delivery of the championship.

"At the same time we hope for your understanding for this decision.”

The Championship was due to take place from July 18 to 22, making it the last ISSF event to be held ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics, where shooting sport takes place at Chateauroux from July 27 to August 5.
