Double victory for Norway

ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol · Rio de Janeiro, BRA

Today medals in 4 events were awarded at the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol. 2 Golds were won by the Norwegian team, 1 more by the Czech Republic and the USA.

Cairo-2022 World Cup winner Jeanette Hegg DUESTAD from Norway won Gold in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women. Second place went to Anna JANSSEN from Germany, who won the 10m Air Rifle Women a few days ago. Sagen MADDALENA from USA took third place.

 

In 25m Pistol Team Women, athletes from Germany Doreen VENNEKAMP, Sandra REITZ and Monika KARSCH won. They brought 5 Gold to their country and strengthened their leadership in Medal Standing. Kanyakorn HIRUNPHOEM, Tanyaporn PRUCKSAKORN, Chidchanok HIRUNPHOEM won Silver. The hosts of the competition - Brazilian athletes Thais Carvalho MOURA, Ana Luiza SOUZA LIMA and Paula Sayuri YADO - brought the second Bronze to their team.

 

Jiri PRIVRATSKY, Frantisek SMETANA and Petr NYMBURSKY from Czech Republic took first place in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team Men. Their competitors in the gold medal match, Henrik LARSEN, Simon CLAUSSEN and Jon-Hermann HEGG from Norway, took the Silver. The third were the Americans Ivan ROE, Lucas KOZENIESKY and Timothy SHERRY.

 

The second gold of the day was won by the Norwegian team. Jeanette Hegg DUESTAD, Jenny STENE and Katrine LUND were the best in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team Women. Americans Sagen MADDALENA, Mary Carolynn TUCKER and Morgan Margarette KREB won Silver. The third place was taken by Chiara LEONE, Franziska STARK and Nina CHRISTEN from Switzerland.

 

Tomorrow the athletes will compete for the last set of medals in individual Olympic event - 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men, as well as in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Mixed Team. Live streaming are available on the ISSF Internet resources: Livestream, Facebook, YouTube.
