Sustainability

Our mission

The ISSF Sustainability Committee plays a pivotal role in identifying and championing environmental, social and economic sustainability actions imperative for the ISSF to act as a responsible international sport organization aligned with the International Olympic committee’s commitment to the United Nations sustainability goals.

The United Nations defines Sustainable Development as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The International Olympic Committee expects all its sports’ leaders to recognize that sustainability is an increasingly important and relevant issue. Sustainability shows up in everyday behaviors of our participants and fans. Thoughtful decisions can lead to a balance between our social economic and environmental impacts to provide opportunity for future generations to reap the benefits from our sport .

The ISSF Sustainability committee’s responsibilities include advising ISSF bodies on environmental issues, nature conservation, and aligning sustainability efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.  The committee also takes the lead in development and drafting comprehensive sustainability strategies, policies, and guidelines specifically tailored for shooting ranges that host ISSF events. Furthermore, it provides guidance to event organizers on practical measures to enhance the sustainability of ISSF competitions, ensuring that these events minimize their environmental impact while fostering responsible practices across the sport.
