ISSF is determined to use all technological innovations to engage with new audiences, especially the young, and to introduce them to shooting sport in a way that involves more people whether as athletes, officials or fans.
ISSF’s strategy is very clear about seeing projects connected to Virtual Reality (VR) experiences and Esport as ADDING VALUE to traditional shooting sport and never as their replacement.
With regard to VR – an exciting new initiative will be made available during the Olympic Games Paris 2024, where visitors to the ISSF House will be able to try out an exciting new platform developed by ISSF in association with Breaking Studio. Once the trial is complete, the idea is for ISSF to incorporate the VR experience at future events.
Esport is another area that ISSF has been ahead of the curve, not only having a dedicated Esport committee but being integral to the first IOC organised Olympic Esports Series 2023 which took place from 22-25 June 2023 in Singapore. ISSF was one of only 10 sports who were invited to participate in this event, with 12 of the best players of the world famous Fortnite Championship Series taking part in a specially designed “ISSF Island” created to represent ISSF sport shooting competition.
ISSF is excited to remain at the heart of developments in Esport and will continue to work closely with the IOC to remain at the heart of their plans to create an “Esport Olympic Games” and to build awareness of traditional shooting amongst a new generation of digital sport shooting fans.
