The Chinese team claimed two medals at the 10m Air Pistol Women event, the last competition of the ISSF World Cup Final of Bangkok.
The 28-year old Chinese shooter REN Jie putted behind the disappointment of the Olympic Games, winning the 2008 ISSF World Cup Series in the 10m Air Pistol Women event. REN, a three times Olympians and a world record holder, had closed the Games of Beijing in a disappointing 19th positions. Today, by shooting a qualification of 389 points and a final of 99.9 points, she claimed Gold with more then two points of advantage on the Silver medallist TIRODE of France, second with 486.5 points.
The Olympic champion of Beijing, the 24-year old GUO Wenjun from China, shared the podium with her teammate REN by winning the Bronze medal with 484.5 points. GUO concluded with this podium a successful season where, next to the Olympic spotlights, she earned two World Cup Gold medals (in Munich and Milan).
The Olympic Bronze medallist of Beijing Nino SALUKVADZE, the Georgian shooter who had impressed the world by hugging her Russian opponent PADERINA on the Olympic field while their country were on war, finished in fourth place. SALUKVADZE shot a total of 482.0 points, preceding the first time finalist Michela SUPPO of Italy and the Bronze medallist of the 2007 World Cup Final SAGUN LEWANDOWSKA of Poland.
