The second step of this year’s ISSF World Cup was opened today in Changwon. A fascinating Opening Ceremony welcomed the shooters here in South Korea “I extend my warmest welcome to 330 athletes coming from more than 50 countries!” said from the stage the head of the Organizing Committee Kim Jung.

After the first stage of Santo Domingo, the 2007 ISSF World Cup Shotgun starts again from Changwon, South Korea. The official start to the competition was given today by the ISSF Technical Delegate Keith Murray and by the President of the Organizing Committee Kim Jung “We offer a friendly welcome to all participants of the 2007 ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Changwon – said Mr. Muray speaking in behalf of the ISSF President Mr. Olegario Vasquez Raña – We express our appreciation to the Korean Shooting Federation, we are sure that with they experience and their dedication this will be a very successful competition” and then, commenting the venue “Changwon has been proved as an excellent range, which will motivate all athletes to give exciting performances” Mr. Kim Jung, thanking the participants, expressed the satisfaction of the Organizing Committee “for this that is going to be the 10th ISSF World Cup held in South Korea from 1987”. Shooters and delegation were welcomed by a great Opening Ceremony, held in a futuristic venue in the city centre of Changwon. Next to the official speeches, the invited enjoyed an outstanding folkloristic show: colours, music, dances, art and Korean traditions were mixed in an exciting performance on the soundtrack of loud drums playing live, an impressing set which involved the numerous spectators and won many truth applauses. The phatos of the ceremony was increased by the oath of shooters and referees in front of the authorities, a solemn promise taken on the stage to compete and judge in fair play, in the respect of sport’s values and of the International Shooting family. The competition will start tomorrow, when the first series of Trap event will be shot at the Changwon shooting range. The first final event, Trap Women, is scheduled for the 16th at 4 PM (GMT + 9).
