„Training, training , training“, named Sergei Alifirenko, 46, from Russia, winner of the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men event at the ISSF World Cup Final in Munich as the reason of his performance today.

“After all that hard work, I had found a good rest with my family who helped me to recover from all these competitions this year”, said Alifirenko after the final today.

With a final round score of 194.9 the Russian athlete almost lost his advantage as Martin Behrendt, 23, from Germany had achieved the great final result of 200.6 totalling his score of 583 after the qualification to 783.6, just three tenths under the final score of Alifirenko. Behrendt, Bronze medallist of Milan 2005, finished second before his team mate Ralf Schumann, 43, who totalled his score after the final to 782.4. Schumann, three times Olympic Gold medallist of 1992, 1996 and 2004 and winner of a total of twelve World Cup Finals won today’s Bronze medal.
