As the ISSF shooting sport engagement activities reach their final day in Dakar today, 7 November, the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) looks back on a memorable experience filled with energy, enthusiasm and inspiring encounters with young people from across Senegal.

Throughout the programme, the ISSF activities welcomed large numbers of children and young visitors eager to discover shooting sport, try something new and experience the excitement of a different discipline as part of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

The site became a vibrant meeting point for young people, offering them the opportunity to get closer to shooting sport in an accessible and welcoming environment. Their curiosity, smiles and enthusiasm made the activities a special experience and brought to life the power of sport to inspire new generations.
ISSF Executive Committee members Hazem Hosny and Melis Giraud were present in Dakar throughout the initiative, showing their support and joining the activities. They were accompanied by Egyptian rifle athlete Jomana Elsayi, who served as the ISSF Ambassador for the programme.

The Ambassador and ExCo members played an important role in connecting with young participants, sharing their experience and encouraging them to discover shooting sport. Their presence helped to bring the discipline closer to a new audience and showed young visitors what it means to be part of the sport.
The strong participation and positive atmosphere throughout the programme reflected the enthusiasm of the young people who came to take part. Beyond introducing them to shooting sport, the activities created opportunities to meet, learn, share experiences and discover the values that sport can bring to everyday life.

As the activities come to an end, the ISSF extends its sincere thanks to the Dakar 2026 organisers, everyone involved in delivering the programme, and, above all, the children and young people who visited the site and made it such a memorable experience.
Thank you, Dakar, for the warm welcome, the energy and the unforgettable moments. The activities may be coming to an end, but the inspiration and connections created will continue well beyond today.

Through its participation in Dakar 2026, the ISSF has once again reinforced its commitment to bringing shooting sport to new audiences, making it accessible to younger generations and contributing to the development of sport around the world.
