Aleksi Leppa finished at the top of a remarkably close 300m Rifle Prone Men competition at the ISSF World Championship Cairo 2026 on Monday, with three athletes recording 597 points. Finland’s Leppa came out ahead on inner tens, while Austria secured the team title with a combined score of 1,782-91x.

Slovenia’s Robert Markoja and Switzerland’s Pascal Bachmann-Senti also scored 597, but Leppa’s 37 inner tens proved decisive. Markoja finished second with 32x, followed by Bachmann-Senti with 24x.

Leppa opened with three consecutive perfect 100s before recording 99 in each of his final three series. Markoja also produced a strong finish, scoring 100 in the fifth series, while Bachmann-Senti’s perfect opening four series were followed by 98 and 99.
The tight margins continued behind the leading trio. Czechia’s Jiri Privratsky finished fourth with 596-45x, recording the highest inner-ten count among the top six. Austria’s Alexander Schmirl followed with 596-31x, ahead of Sweden’s Karl Olsson on 596-29x.

France’s Geoffroy Abel Bernard Hatton, Germany’s Markus Abt, Brazil’s Cassio Cesar Rippel and Finland’s Cristian Friman completed the top ten, all finishing on 595 points.
Austria tops the team standings

Austria claimed the men’s team title with 1,782-91x, with Patrick Diem, Andreas Thum and Schmirl combining for the winning score.

Switzerland finished second on 1,780-95x. Despite recording more inner tens than Austria, the Swiss team finished two points behind, with Gilles Vincent Dufaux, Bachmann-Senti and Simon Maag making up the silver-medal team.
Poland took third place with 1,777-83x through Maciej Kowalewicz, Andrzej Burda and Tomasz Bartnik.

Czechia finished fourth with 1,772-77x, followed by Denmark on 1,766-62x and Germany on 1,764-78x. Japan placed seventh with 1,742-56x, while Egypt completed the team standings in eighth with 1,719-46x.

With three athletes tied on 597 in the individual standings and the team podium separated by just five points between first and third, the men’s 300m Rifle Prone competition delivered close margins across both classifications at Egypt’s International Olympic City.
