ISSF Junior World Cup Cairo 2026: World record junior headlines second day of finals

The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun Cairo 2026 continued with an exciting second day of finals in Cairo, Egypt, highlighted by a World Record Junior in Skeet Women.

Three finals took place on the day, with the 25m Pistol Women Junior at 11:30, followed by Skeet Women Junior at 14:30 and Skeet Men Junior at 15:45 (local time).

The standout performance of the day came from AIN Varvara Zaitseva, who delivered an exceptional final to win gold in Skeet Women Junior with 33 hits, setting a new World Record Junior.

She finished ahead of AIN Kseniia Shuliak, who claimed silver with 31, while Great Britain’s Bethany Norton secured bronze with 28.

Zaitseva showed remarkable consistency throughout the final, taking control early and maintaining her level to reach the record mark — the highest score of the competition so far.
Earlier in the day, AIN Katsiaryna Ivanova claimed gold in the 25m Pistol Women Junior final with 31 hits, finishing ahead of India’s Sejal Kamble with 27, while Sofiia Smetankina (AIN) secured bronze with 25.

The final featured a strong field, with a close contest for podium positions as the athletes progressed through the elimination stages.
The day concluded with the Skeet Men Junior final, where Great Britain’s Denzil Jago Grose took the gold medal with 31 hits.

Italy’s Marco Coco followed closely with 30 to secure silver, while Finland’s Lassi Kauppinen completed the podium with 28.

The final remained competitive throughout, with Grose holding his composure in the closing stages to secure victory.

The competition runs until 27 April, with more titles to be decided in the coming days.
