Dear ISSF family,
As we conclude our International Women’s Day series, I want to take a moment to reflect on the inspiring stories, achievements, and progress highlighted throughout the week. From pioneering athletes and record-breaking performances to leaders shaping the future of our sport, the contributions of women in shooting are both remarkable and foundational to the ISSF community.
This week, we celebrated the voices and experiences of women across all levels — from Olympic champions and world record holders to coaches and administrators. We shared data that shows the growth of female participation, the rise of mixed team events, and the increasing presence of women in governance and leadership roles. Most notably, in 2025, women set more World Records than men, underscoring their impact on the sport at the highest level.
These stories remind us that inclusion is not just a principle — it is visible in participation, in performance, and in leadership. The ISSF is committed to ensuring that every girl and woman has the opportunity to compete, to excel, and to lead, both on the range and beyond.
On this International Women’s Day, and as we close our week-long series, I congratulate all the women who continue to inspire, break barriers, and set new standards of excellence. Let us carry forward this momentum, ensuring that equality, opportunity, and representation remain central to the future of shooting sport.
With my warmest regards,
Luciano Rossi
President, International Shooting Sport Federation
