The Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship in New Delhi continued with a high-level day of competition at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, where world records and strong international performances marked the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol events alongside rifle finals across senior and junior categories.
The men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol final produced one of the standout moments of the championship. Japan’s Dai Yoshioka delivered an exceptional performance to secure the gold medal, setting both a new world record and a new world junior record with 31 hits in the final. Kazakhstan’s Nikita Chiryukin claimed silver, while India’s Anish Bhanwala completed the podium with bronze after a closely contested final featuring athletes from across the continent. The achievement underlined both the depth of the discipline and the increasingly high performance level of young athletes competing at senior level.
The world junior record established in the senior final stood only briefly. Immediately afterwards, the men’s junior 25m rapid-fire pistol final saw Indonesia’s Muhamad Fawwaz Aditia Farrel raise the standard once again, setting a new world junior record of 29 hits to win gold. The rapid succession of records highlighted the remarkable progression within the discipline, with the earlier world junior record remaining officially valid for some hours before being surpassed later in the day.
Earlier in the programme, Kazakhstan’s Islam Satpayev delivered a strong performance in the men’s 50m rifle prone event, winning individual gold and contributing to his team’s victory in the team competition. The junior men’s rifle prone event also saw competitive performances, reflecting the continued emergence of young talent across the region. With several finals still to come, the championship in New Delhi continues to showcase both established champions and the next generation of international shooting sport athletes.
