Sun Yujie
China's Sun Yujie World Cup debut started in Buenos Aires at the start of the year and would be joint top at the end of the first competition stage with her teammate Feng Sixuan and India's Manu Bhaker, but she would pull ahead by three after scoring 14 of her next 15.
Despite a strong showing from India's Esha Singh, who scored 16 in a row, she stayed one ahead and finished with four from five to hold onto the win.
For Sun Yujie, 2025 would bring joy, with three consecutive World Cup golds.

Suruchi Singh
The other athlete who dominated in the women's pistol this year was Suruchi Singh. The Indian arrived in Buenos Aires on her World Cup debut in the women's 10m air pistol.
Making the final on her debut was a great result in itself, but the teenager would go even better. The first competition stage saw her in fourth place, but her first elimination stage shots were 10.7 and 10.8 - an extraordinary combination that took her close to the leader of Qian Wei of China.
But that consistency would make her the new target, with only three of her 14 shots scoring below 10. She would extend her lead to 2.7 by the end of the competition to beat Qian.
Singh, much like Sun, continued her streak into Lima and Munich, and ended with a gold medal in the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha.

Peng Xinlu
You cannot have a better World Cup debut than breaking the world record. Just one month after winning two silver medals at the Asian Championships on her international debut, the 16-year-old Peng Xinlu came to Ningbo in decent form.
She would lead after the first competition stage of the women's 10m air rifle, closely followed by Norway's Jeanette Hegg Duestad and Mariia Vasileva. She would score below 10.5 just three times in her 14 elimination shots, leading her to an impressive total of 255.3.

Xiao Jiaruixuan
Brought in for her ISSF World Cup debut in Ningbo on home soil, Xiao Jiaruixuan's career has followed an interesting trajectory. Four years ago she took the bronze medal in the women's 25m pistol at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and a year later made her ISSF World Championship debut, winning gold in the women's 25m standard pistol.
Her international return would not come for three years, as she would claim silver in the event at the Asian Championships in Shymkent.
Only in Ningbo would she finally make her ISSF World Cup debut, winning the bronze medal. She ran Koreans Yang Ji-in and Oh Ye-jin close in the contest for the title, but ultimately still made it onto the podium.

Yang Yuhao
Newly turned 19, Yang Yuhao stepped onto the podium in Buenos Aires, working hard to remain in contention on his debut in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol. A difficult first stage was followed up with an elimination stage that pulled them ahead of the closest challengers and clear in third, with two perfect series.
By this point, he was too far behind India's Vijayveer Sidhu and Riccardo Mazzetti to catch the top two, but defeated Kazakhstan's Nikita Chiryukin in a shoot-off to claim the bronze medal.
Yang's international season was short, but solid. He would compete in Lima in the same month, just missing the final in a respectable ninth position.
