In the build-up to the ISSF World Cup in Ningbo, China this September, a swathe of judges have passed their courses in Electronic Scoring Target (EST), allowing them to officiate at major competitions.
Held in the Chinese city of Chengdu from the 17th to the 21st of June, 35 participants completed the five-day course. Notably, 19 of these students were female and 16 were male, showing an improvement in gender balance.
Wataru Fujii from Japan led the course as the instructor, assisted by Huang Lan of China and Japan's Yuki Aou. In addition, there were three observers from the Chinese Shooting Association (CSA). This course covered comprehensive EST rules, scoring protocols and international judging standards.
Fujii was quick to praise the "exceptional dedication" of the participants, noting the newly-trained judges are expected to be operational for the Ningbo ISSF World Cup, which is to host rifle and pistol events from the 9th to the 14th of September.
