ISSF is currently testing the use of live aiming, in the form of SCATT training devices, for sport presentation purposes during future ISSF event rifle and pistol finals.

The first television broadcast trials were conducted at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany and proved a great success, according to ISSF Sport Director, Peter Underhill.

To clarify the current situation during this trialling and testing period, all athletes and technical officials are reminded that the use of such SCATT systems in official ISSF events is prohibited, both for athletes in qualification and finals.

Live aiming will only be used and authorised for trial purposes at certain future ISSF events - the next likely being at the ISSF Junior World Cup in New Delhi, India, in September 2025.

Once its viability as an aid to enhance sport presentation has been established, it is likely to be introduced for all televised ISSF rifle and pistol finals from the beginning of the 2026 season. Rules and procedures covering its use will be incorporated into the new ISSF Rules and Regulations 2026.
