ISSF President Luciano Rossi made the journey to the micronation of Andorra in the Pyrenees to commemorate the start of the 2025 Games of the Small States of Europe.

Rossi was invited to the opening of the competition - as was International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach. Mr Rossi and Mr Bach greeted each other warmly, with this being the last month of Mr Bach's great tenure as the leader of the Olympic Movement. The pair also spoke with Andorran Olympic Committee President Xavier Espot Miro, who is also the President of the Organising Committee for the Games.

The Games of the Small States of Europe is an important event for shooting athletes from the nations of Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro and San Marino. The sport has been part of the Games' programme since its inaugural competition in 1985.

Mr Rossi also met with the President of the Andorran Shooting Federation, Marc Otero Rodríguez and the Andorran Shooting Federation Treasurer Joan Tomàs Roca - who is considered a great administrator as the former President and as an athlete, competing at five Olympic Games for his country.

It was an opportunity for the ISSF to engage with smaller nations and celebrate their passion and loyalty to shooting sport.

The shotgun range is nestled in the picturesque mountains at 1,870 metres above sea level at the Pla de Borras Shooting Range, while the pistol and rifle events will take place close in Andorra la Vella at Serradells.

The Games of the Small States of Europe will conclude on the 1st of June.
