China's Sun Yujie made it back-to-back gold medals in 2025 as she took the title in the women's 25m pistol final, on the last day of the ISSF World Cup in Lima, Peru.
On her debut last week in Buenos Aires, Sun took gold and did so again by a tight margin, beating Simranpreet Kaur Brar of India to the top spot.
Sun and her teammate Yao Qianxun set the early pace, followed by a third Chinese athlete Zu Pengwen. Brar and her teammate Manu Bhaker followed on two each, while their compatriot Esha Singh missed all five of their opening shots. While Zu lost momentum - finishing in eighth ahead of Ecuador's Andrea Perez Pena in seventh - Sun and Yao remained in medal contention with Brar as Bhaker fought to remain in the competition, coming close to elimination on a couple of occasions.
Singh would be eliminated in sixth having recovered well from the slow start - but with a lot to catch up. Doreen Vennekamp of Germany was next to bow out in fifth after losing a shoot-off with Bhaker, who herself missed the medals after missing her last four shots.
This meant Sun, Yao and Brar would be on the podium. All three had the lead at one stage, but it was now Sun with a one-shot lead over Brar and another in front of Yao. With all scoring four in the next series, it was Yao who left with the bronze. Sun and Brar matched each other's scores again, with their totals finishing 34-33. Both Brar and Yao won their first individual World Cup medals in the process.

In the mixed team trap event, Australians Mitchell Iles and Penny Smith claimed gold, defeating Guatemala's Olympic medallists Jean Pierre Brol and Adriana Ruano in the final.
Australia started well and capitalised on earlier mistakes from Brol and Ruano, with the score at 27-20 after round three of five. Two misses from Iles in round four and a clean sweep for the Guatemalans brought the gap down to five. Another miss for Iles in round five brought that gap down to four, but with his second-last shot, he confirmed the win for himself and Smith.
In the bronze medal match, Italians Mauro de Filippis and Silvana Stanco edged out Walton Eller and Rachel Tozier of the United States 40-41. After misses for Stanco and De Filippis with their third-to-last shots, the Americans were back level. However, Eller's penultimate shot was unsuccessful, giving the Italians a one-shot lead until the end.
