Since 2013, President Bach has led the Olympic Movement with incredible skill, mastering severe geopolitical challenges and the COVID-19 crisis, boosting the IOC’s financial security and introducing key innovations to make the Olympics ever relevant.
His changes to the Olympic Programme and his insistence on efficiency and the partnership approach in stakeholder relationships will be his outstanding legacy, President Bach has fought for the Olympic values as a force for good in the world.
Finally, we will always remember him as a friend to shooting sport who always supported us in a spirit of co-operation as we strived to ensure our Olympic future.
I will never forget his enthusiasm and pleasure in mixing with our shooting athletes at the Olympic range in Chateauroux.
His presence was proof that he believed in the word team.
His example showed the importance of unity and achieving great results – together. From all of us at ISSF and sport shooting – thank you for everything!
