Vietnam and DPR Korea claim mixed team title wins at Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup

10m air pistol mixed team finals were the first on the schedule in Bangkok.

On the opening day of finals in Bangkok, Thailand; Vietnam and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea were victorious in the 10m air pistol mixed team finals at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup.

Vietnam's golden child Trinh Thu Vinh - who finished fourth at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the women's event - teamed up with Pham Quang Huy to take the senior title, beating the Indonesian duo of Muhamad Iqbal Prabowa and Arista Perdana Darmoyo 17-13.

After a close contest, Trinh and Pham were able to pull away in the final stretch - managing to make less mistakes than Indonesia.

Chen Yu-Ju and Chang Lu of Chinese Taipei were more decisive victors for bronze against Choo Gaeun and Jang Jinhyuk of the Republic of Korea, by a 16-8 scoreline.

In total, there were 23 teams competing in qualification.

The junior event was the tightest of all the finals, as Kim Hyon Suk and Ho Un Song of the DPR Korea edged out Kirill Fedkin and Malika Seil from Kazakhstan 16-14.

Hosts Thailand would end the day with a medal, with Nattaya Boonchuen and Jetsadaporn Chitchuen beating Thisangi Geethma Udugama Koralage Dona and Aryan Senaratne from Sri Lanka 16-12.
