The International Shooting Sport Federation and the European Shooting Confederation (ESC) met today in Wiesbaden, Germany, as part of technical discussions related to target sprint shooting sport events.
President Luciano Rossi, who was accompanied by an ISSF team that featured Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo amongst others, were welcomed to the headquarters of the German Shooting Sport Federation for the talks.
There, they met with Jorg Brokamp, the ISSF Technical Committee chair, who conducted a meeting between those on the Technical Committee.
The visit also included positive collaborative efforts with the ESC regarding the future of target sprint, which was recently added to the competition programme for the ISSF World Shooting Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
Both parties discussed issues such as funding and development opportunities, the calendar and worldwide distribution of the target sprint discipline.
Rossi is already moving forward with important maneuvers to allow the target sprint discipline to be spread around the world and grow.
President Rossi said: "We agree that target sprint must be promoted because it definitely enriches the canon of disciplines in shooting sports, brings a completely different component and appeals to a different group of athletes.
"The aim must be to spread target sprint worldwide, which is why we have talked about harmonising the competition calendar, among other things, in which we want to integrate an international highlight every year in order to offer athletes and federations a clear perspective."
