The new Esports Committee was created at the ISSF General Assembly.

The formation of the E-Sports, E-Games and Technological Innovations Committee, focused on growing shooting sport’s popularity virtually, has been approved at the ISSF General Assembly in Rome, Italy.

As part of ISSF President Luciano Rossi’s ambition to make the governing body a home for all shooting sports, the Commission will oversee ambitious plans to create a healthy, virtual sporting environment.

“This ‘home’ must also welcome young people who have a fresh approach to the world of shooting,” said President Rossi.

“That is why we are also focusing on Esports, a rapidly expanding field, with the ambition of becoming leaders and participating in future Virtual Olympics.”

The E-Sports, E-Games and Technological Innovations Committee is to be made up of five members.

ISSF remains committed to the future of esports and looks forward to creating an environment for new audiences to enjoy shooting sport.

A significant moment for ISSF esports came at Milan Games Week in November, the first public showcase of the ISSF VR Experience, with 647 matches played on the platform.
