Venezuela has boosted its profile as a venue for international shooting sport competition in hosting the fourth International Military Sports Council (CISM) World Cadet Games in its capital of Caracas.
Luciano Rossi, the ISSF President, has hailed the event at the Fuerte Tiuna military base, which took place from August 16 to 24 and involved students from the military educational schools of the 141 CISM member nations.
More than 490 military cadets from nine countries took part in seven events during the Games, including two shooting disciplines – the 25m air pistol and the 300m rifle.
The shooting events were held at the El Libertador national shooting range, an impressive superstructure equipped with modern and advanced technology made by SIUS, the official ISSF Results Provider.
“The competition has demonstrated once again the central role of shooting inside the military sports events and is concrete evidence of how sport within the armed forces can contribute to the development of shooting sport disciplines,” said ISSF President Rossi.
“Through its commitment and excellent organisation, Venezuela has further established itself s a candidate to host other important shooting events in the near future.”
In May this year Colonel Walter Borghino, the recently appointed ISSF Ambassador, took part in the 79th CISM General Assembly and Congress in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
He had the opportunity to deliver a short message to all the 71 delegations and to present its tasks to the Board of Directors.
CISM President Colonel Nilton Rolim and CISM Secretary General Navy Captain Roberto Recchia congratulated Colonel Borghino for his designation and ensured all the possible efforts to reinforce and to improve the collaboration between the two sport associations, for the development of shooting events and competitions in the Armed Forces around the world.
