The theme of today at ISSF House was Unity – with a gathering of ISSF Member Federations and ExCo members on hand to celebrate a host of Olympic medal winning athletes.
Present at the House was Vincent Hancock, who won his fourth Olympic gold medal earlier today, along with his Team USA team mate Conner Lynn Prince, who secured a US one-two in the Men’s skeet event, as well as Yang Jeen of Korea, winner of gold in today’s 25m pistol and Veronica Major of Hungary, who took bronze in the same event.
World record holder Kim Yeji of Korea, who took silver in the 10m air pistol and who has become a global internet sensation was also present as was Manu Bhaker of India, who has made history by being the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting sport and the only Indian athlete to win two medals at the same Olympic Games was next on stage. She won 10m air pistol bronze and 10m air pistol mixed team bronze.
This Gala evening was a way to recognise and applaud ISSF’s Member Federations but also the excellent work being done by the elected members of the ISSF Executive Committee. All ExCo present in Chateauroux were welcomed onto the stage and presented with a commemorative plaque by President Luciano Rossi. In a touching gesture, the architects of the ISSF House concept, ISSF President Rossi and Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di Giacomo were presented with a special award by the President of the Italian shooting federation, Costantino Vespasiano, in recognition of the creativity and hard work that was needed for ISSF House to be brought to life.
The ISSF House audience also showed their appreciation to the House’s Premium Partner Beretta, with vicedirettore generale Mr Daniele Bertoni receiving a recognition plaque in recognition of the company’s long standing support for shooting sport athletes and federations all over the world.
