ISSF House Daily Recap presented by RWS

On the very day ISSF House had chosen to celebrate the Americas, Guatemala’s Adriana Ruano Oliva won the first ever Olympic gold medal for Guatemala, in today’s trap final, to give a massive boost to shooting sport in the region.
Earlier in the day, the US National Olympic Committee were at the House to conduct a number of interviews with shooting athletes from Team USA, including Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Mary Tucker. 

This evening, the guests at ISSF House were able to celebrate with athletes who had competed today, including Adriana Ruano Oliva and Italy’s Silvana Maria Stanco, who won the silver medal in the trap a few hours earlier, but also warmly welcomed Victor Lindgren from Sweden, who won Silver Medal in the men’s 10m Air Rifle and Ying Qi from China, who also won silver in the Men’s Trap.

Following the celebration of athletes, ISSF President Luciano Rossi, invited Americas’ legend Carlos Silva Monterosso on to the stage. The three time Olympian from Guatemala, a long time President of the Shooting Confederation of Americas and member of the ISSF ExCo, to commemorate his amazing career with a commemorative plaque. 

President Rossi also welcomed another long serving ExCo member, Francisco Boza of Peru. Mr Boza’s legendary career included competing in eight consecutive Olympic Games, winning a silver in the 1984 Olympics and serving as flag bearer for Peru at the 2004 and 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Mr Boza was presented with a special ISSF Medal of Merit in recognition of his extraordinary career as an athlete and his contribution to the development of the sport in the Americas and worldwide.

To complete another fun night, Luciano Rossi also presented a certificate of appreciation to  another star of the Americas, Leonel Martinez of Venezuela, the oldest shooting sport athlete of the Paris 2024 Olympic and ISSF House guests were then able to wish a raucous Happy Birthday to two members of the ISSF Family, Ester Davidovich and Francesca Caridi.
