One quota place for the Paris 2024 Olympics will be on offer in each of the four individual events featuring in the Olympic Qualification CAT XIV Shotgun Championships in the Dominican Republic capital of Santo Domingo, with finals starting today (March 3).
A total of 120 athletes from 16 nations are taking part in the Championship of the Americas, with the first quota places going on offer today in the men’s and women’s trap finals.
The men’s and women’s skeet finals are scheduled for Thursday (March 7).
The Championships will also involve men’s and women’s team events and mixed team events in both the trap and skeet.
The host nation will have three competing athletes – William Escobar, Domingo Lorenzo and Eduardo Jose Lorenzo – all of whom will take place in the men’s trap.
Canada field the largest team of 14 competitors, with the United States and Mexico each fielding 13 shooters.
