India’s junior shooters underlined their dominance at the ISSF World Cup 10m Rifle and Pistol in Granada as they signed off with a gold and silver medal in the 10m air pistol women junior event thanks respectively to Devanshi Dhama and Lakshita Lakshita.

Dharma, 20, finished 2.0 points ahead of her 17-year-old compatriot with a total of 240, and this final medal flourish confirmed India’s superiority in the junior section as they finished with four golds, three silvers and two bronzes.

Georgia finished second with one gold, one silver and two bronzes, with Kyrgyzstan finishing third thanks to today’s victory for 17-year-old Imandos Bektenov in the 10m air pistol men junior final.

Georgia picked up two bronzes today through Mariami Prodiashvili, a 10m pistol mixed team gold medallist yesterday, who finished one place behind Lakshita, and Ioane Khvareshia in the 10m air pistol men junior event.

Silver in the men’s event today went to Germany’s 20-year-old Andreas Koeppl, who scored 235.1 behind Bektenov’s 236.0.

Pre-event training for the senior events starts at the Shooting Range CEAR de Tiro Olimpico Juan Carlos I in Las Gabias tomorrow, with the first two finals – the 10m air pistol men and 10m air pistol women – scheduled for Friday.

All senior finals will be streamed live on the ISSF Facebook and You Tube channels.
