India’s domination of junior shooting at the ISSF World Cup 10m Rifle and Pistol in Granada continued today as Isha Anil Taksale and Umamahesh Maddineni, individual gold medallists yesterday, combined to win the 10m air rifle mixed team title.

Asian junior champion Taksale, 16, and her 19-year-old partner, comprising India 1, defeated India 2 - their 15-year-old compatriots Anvil Rathod, the Asian junior women’s bronze medallist, and Abhinav Shaw, the Asian junior men’s silver medallist – 16-8 in the final.

Bronze went to the Great Britain pair of Gwenllian Thorne – whose silver in yesterday’s women’s 10m air rifle made her the only non-Indian medallist on the day – and 19-year-old Aston Upton.

The British pair earned a 16-14 win over the Bangladesh pairing of Jafirah Chowdhury and Md Hossain, respectively 16 and 14 years old.

The earlier 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Shooting Range CEAR de Tiro Olimpico Juan Carlos I in Las Gabias was all about Georgian shooters.

Georgia’s No.2 pairing of 20-year-old Mariami Prodiashvili and 18-year-old Giorgi Mumladze defeated its No.1 pairing of Mariam Abramishvili and Ioane Khvareshia 17-9.

Spain’s Carla Caballero Fernandez, 20, and Lucas Sanchez Tome, 17, earned bronze with a 16-8 win over the Azerbaijan 1 team of Leyli Aliyeva, 16, and 19-year-old Vladislav Kalmikov.

Tomorrow will see the staging of the junior men’s and women’s 10m air pistol finals.
