The Presidium of the European Shooting Confederation (ESC) examined the consequences of the decision by Organizing Committee of the 2021 European Championship 10m Air Rifle/Air Pistol in Lohja, Finland, not to hold the competition with six quota places for Tokyo 2020 and took the following decisions:
1. To hold the 2021 European Championship 10m Air Rifle/Air Pistol in May 2021 in Osijek, Croatia, together with the 2021 European Championship 25/50/300m/Shotgun as one European Championship.
2. To address the ISSF with a request to coordinate with the International Olympic Committee the appropriate changes in the " QUALIFICATION SYSTEM – GAMES OF THE XXXII OLYMPIAD – TOKYO 2020” issued in May 2020.
The ISSF supports the decisions of the ESC Presidium and is very happy that the Croatian Shooting Federation is willing to organize the 2021 European Championship 10m granting the athletes the possibility to compete at high-level in this Olympic shooting discipline. We also hope that by the end of spring 2021 the situation will allow athletes from all European nations to take part in the Olympic qualification. This approach best corresponds to the principle of earning quota places on the Field of Play.
Therefore, the ISSF requested the IOC to make appropriate amendments to the document “QUALIFICATION SYSTEM – GAMES OF THE XXXII OLYMPIAD – TOKYO 2020” as issued on 26 May 2020.
