Indonesia, the People’s Republic of Korea, Lebanon, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Qatar complete the list of nations with Olympic Quotas

During the first two days of the 14th Asian Championship in Doha, Qatar, 19 Quota Places for Tokyo-2020 found their owner from 15 nations. Six of them – Indonesia, Lebanon, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Qatar – obtained the right to be represented in Tokyo-2020.

In 10m Air Rifle Men the medals were won by Yukun Liu, Haonan Yu (both from the People’s Republic of China) and Deepak Kumar from India. The quotas went to Deepak Kumar,  Shao-Chuan Lu from the Chinese Taipei, and Masaya Endoh from Japan. 

In 10m Air Rifle Women the winners were Qian Yang from the People’s Republic of China, Tessa Neo from Singapore and Eunhea Jung from Korea. The quotas went to Tessa Neo, Yesugen Oyunbat from Mongolia and Vidya Rafika Rahmatan Toyyiba from Indonesia. 

In 10m Air Pistol Women the winner was Manu Bhaker from India. Silver and bronze went to Qian Wang and Ranxin Jiang from the People’s Republic of China. The quotas were obtained by Haniyeh Rostamiyan from Iran, Yong Suk Jo from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Satoko Yamada from Japan. 

In Rapid Fire Pistol Men the medals were won by Junmin Lin, Yuehong Li and Zhaonan Yao (all three of them are from the People’s Republic of China) and the quotas went to Teruyoshi Akiyama from Japan, Jong Ho Song from Korea, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir from Pakistan and Isaranuudom Phurihiranphat from Thailand.

Ray Bassil from Lebanon got the gold medal in Trap Women after the shoot-off with Sarsenkul Rysbekova from Kazakhstan. The bronze went to Yukie Nakayama from Japan. All three medalists obtained Olympic quotas. 

In Trap Men there were three Kuwait athletes on the podium: Talal Alrashidi, Khaled Almudhaf and Naser Meqlad, but they could not obtain more than one quota place for their country. The other two quotas in this event went to Kun-Pi Yang from the Chinese Taipei and – to the delight of the local public – to Mohammed Al Rumaihi from Qatar.

The last event of the second day – 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team – kept the audience in tension till the very last shot. Jihyeon Keum and Byounggil Choo from Korea won the gold against Qian Yang and Haonan Yu from the People’s Republic of China. The bronze medals went to Ruozhu Zhao and Buhan Song from the People’s Republic of China.
