In the Trap Mixed Team Junior final, Lorenzo Ferrari and Erica Sessa dominated the Trap Mixed Team final, closing the match with a 7-hit advantage on their closest rivals and writing a new World Record in this young event.

Italy’s Lorenzo Ferrari (18) and Erica Sessa (19) ruled the final match of the Trap Mixed Team event, setting a new World Record and grabbing the brightest medal at the ISSF World Championship in Changwon (KOR).

The two Italian talents stayed atop the board since the very first clay was thrown, starting off their final with 13 consecutive hits and never looking back. Eventually, they even bested the World Record which was previously held by the same Sessa along with Teo Petroni — who scored 40 hits out of 50 at the 2018 European Championship in Leobersdorf (AUT).

At the Changwon International Shooting Range, Sessa and Ferrari raised the bar up to 42 hits, adding the team gold medal to the two individual ones they claimed in the previous days: indeed, Sessa became the Junior World Champion in the women’s Trap event, while Ferrari placed 3rd in the men’s Trap.

Despite missing four straight targets between number 16 and 19, team 1 of Italy — featuring 18-year-old Matteo Marongiu and 19-year-old Lucia Palmitessa — placed alongside their teammates and won silver, crushing 35 of their targets. Marongiu and Palmitessa previously signed the highest qualification score with 140 hits.

The bronze medal was awarded to People’s Republic of China’s Gao Wendi (20) and Ouyang Yiliu (19), who missed their very last targets and left the match because of a lower number bib comapred to Italy’s team 1. The two Chinese shooters hit 29 of their 40 clays.

India’s Manisha Keer (19) and Manavaditya Singh Rathore (19) followed in 4th position with 24 hits out of 35 targets, while United States’ 18-year-old Logan Joseph Lucas and 19-year-old Emma Lee Williams took 5th place with 21 out of 30.

Australia’s 19-year-old Charlie Anna Hudson-Czerniecki and 19-year-old Mitchell Iles-Crevatin left the match after target number 25, finishing in 6th place with 16 hits.

The ISSF World Championship in Changwon (KOR) will continue tomorrow with the medal matches of the 10m Running Target events, kicking off at 1:35 pm (UTC+9:00).
