Om Prakash Mitharval of India ruled the 50m Pistol Men event, claiming his country’s third gold medal at the ISSF World Championship in Changwon (KOR).
The Indian 23-year-old opened his match with two average series of 92 and 90 points, then progressively climbing up the table: in his third round, indeed, Mitharval signed a fantastic 97, then sealing his victory with a 95-96-94 combination.
Serbia’s 34-year-old Damir Mikec placed 2nd, finishing only 2 points behind his Indian rival, at 562. The podium was completed by Republic of Korea’s Lee Daemyung, who scored 560 points and finished with the bronze medal around his neck.
Daemyung also clibmed atop the team podium with his teammates, winning gold with 1670 total points. The team silver went to Seriba, who totalized 1667 points, while the bronze was awarded to the People’s Republic of China with 1661.
The ISSF World Championship in Changwon will continue tomorrow with two more finals: the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team Junior, scheduled at 10:45 am (UTC+9:00), and the 10m Air Pistol Women Junior, taking place at 12:45 pm.
