New National Shooting Center CNTS inaugurated in France

The ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña participated in the opening ceremony of the venue, that is fully equipped for the practice of twelve shooting disciplines, including all Olympic shooting events. The installation is is considered a “major asset in preparation for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024”.

The ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña participated in the official inauguration of France’s new national shooting centre, the Centre National de Tir Sportiv (CNTS), in Chateauroux-Delo, on the 17th of May, upon the invitation of the President of the French Shooting Sport Federation Philippe Crochard. 

 

“It is an honor to be here, in this great event for the opening ceremony of the French National Shooting Sport Center,” said the ISSF President, addressing some 600 guests. 

 

“France has a long tradition in our sport, and this is a perfect chance to unite the Shooting Family of this country,” added Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña, who was accompanied by the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber, the ISSF Vice-President and President of the European Shooting Confederation Vladimir Lisin, and the President of the Shooting Confederation of the Americas Carlos Silva Monterroso. 

 

“The Father of the modern Olympic Games, the great Frenchman Pierre de Coubertin, was an excellent pistol shooter and loved our sport. The success of French shooters is written in the history of the ISSF, as they gave 33 Olympic medals to their country between 1900 and 2016.”

 

“I am sure this shooting range will help to continue the development of our sport in this great nation.”

During the opening ceremony, the guests were toured through the venue, which includes infrastructures for rifle, pistol and shotgun shooting, meeting French Olympic and Paralympic medallists such as Michel Bury, Delphine Racinet-Reau, Anthony Terras, Celine Goberville, Cedric Fevre, Jean Quiquampoix and Alexis Raynaud.
