The Emirian shooter, despite not battling for one of the four quotas up for grabs, bested Independent Shooting Participant Saud Habib in the Gold medal match, while the Bronze went to another UAE’s shooter, Saeed Almaktoum.

Two-time ISSF World Cup medallist Saif Bin Futtais of the UAE pocketed the Skeet Men Gold medal in New Delhi (IND), where the Asia Olympic Qualifying Competition for Shooting officially closed today.

In the Gold medal match, Bin Futtais bested Independent Shooting Participant Saud Habib, who missed his very last target and finished in 2nd place with the final score of 13 to 12 hits. Despite the defeat, and thanks to the Olympic quota place earned by Bin Futtais during last year’s World Cup, Habib consoled himself with the first of the four Olympic slots up for grabs in this event.

Two more shooter from the United Arab Emirates battled for the 3rd step of the podium and for the second quota for Rio 2016 in the Bronze medal match, where Saeed Almaktoum beat his teammate Mohamed Ahmad with the final score of 15 to 14 hits.

Outside of the medal matches, but still awarded with the third and the fourth Olympic quota place, finished Qatar’s Rashidi Hamad, 5th with 13 semifinal targets, and Independent Shooting Participant Abdullah Alrashidi with 12.
