The three countries took 15 of the day's 24 medals

Italy, the Russian Federation, and the United States of America won five medals each on the fourth competition day at the 2015 ISSF Junior Cup in Suhl, Germany.

In the women's Trap event alone, Italy won three medals. Claiming the first medal of her career, Fiammetta Rossi came in third.

In the team standings, Italy won both the silver and the bronze, thanks to two different groups of three shooters, who came respectively in second and in third.

The USA won three medals in the women's Trap too. Emily Hampson and Cheyenne Waldrop were the two finalists -- taking, respectively, gold and silver. Their performances also gave their country the team gold.

Russia won two medals in the women's 25m Pistol, two in the women's Skeet, and one in the men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions.

50m Rifle 3 Positions Men Junior

After contributing to a team silver for his country on Day 1, Switzerland's Christoph Duerr won a gold medal in the men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions.

Duerr's race to the gold ended after he won a shoot-off against India's Akhil Sheoran.

That allowed Duerr to close in first on 454.3 points -- Sheoran's same score, which had brough them in a tie at the top.

Duerr seemed leading the match comfortably. At one point, he had a 5.9-point margin on Slovakia's Ondrej Holko, then the runner-up.

But slowly, Duerr's lead decreased as Sheoran got closer.

Then, Sheoran hit a 10.7 and overtook Duerr.

At the last shot, Sheoran wasted his 0.8-point margin as he hit a 9.4. Duerr hit a 10.2, and caught up with him.

In the shoot-off, Sheoran hit a 10.0. Duerr, a 10.4, and won the gold.

Italy's Marco Suppini won the bronze -- his career's first medal.

Suppini competed neck and neck with Switzerland's Manuel Luescher, and closed in third (439.5).

Poland won the team gold as Maciej Wojtasiak, Adam Kuczynski, and Marcin Majka added up to 1863.5 points.

Duerr came back on the team podium, joining teammates Luescher and Robin Frund. Together, they scored 1860.6 -- and secured Switzerland's team silver.

France took the bronze (1855.7), thanks to Regis Roeckel, Pierre Rodrigues, and Lorenzo Buffard.
Trap Women Junior

Following an all-American gold medal match, Emily Hampson beat teammate Cheyenne Waldrop in a shoot-off to win the women's Trap event.

That was Hampson's second shoot-off, and she had already went through one to enter the gold medal match. In the semifinal -- which Waldrop won -- Hampson was tied in second place with Italy's Fiammetta Rossi.

In the shoot-off, Hampson beat Rossi by 1-0, and advanced to the gold medal match.

For most part of the gold medal match, Waldrop was ahead by one hit. But when she missed her 13th target, Hampson took the chance and caught up with her.

They closed in a tie at 13 hits, and went for the shoot-off. Which was fast -- Waldrop missed her first target. Hampson took hers, and the gold.

In the bronze medal match, Rossi (who -- just to be sure -- is not Jessica Rossi) beat Great Britain's Jessica Elizabeth Moore by 11 to 6 hits.

The USA celebrated on the team podium too, as it won gold with 192 hits by Waldrop, Hampson, and Samantha Joy Smith.

Italy won both the silver and the bronze medal.

Krizia Domenica Lagana, Erica Sessa, and Maria Lucia Palmitessa were part of the team that made second place (185).

Antonia Ricciardi, Rossi, and Giulia Grassia gained the bronze (185).
Skeet Women Junior

Russia's Ekaterina Filimonova beat Dania Jo Vizzi of the USA to win the women's Skeet event.

Filimonova lead the gold medal match easily. She was always in the lead, and never let Vizzi get too close.

Finally, Filimonova won with a 4-hit margin on Vizzi, the silver medalist (14-10).

This was the first medal of Filimonova's career.

Germany secured the bronze medal as Katrin Wieslhuber beat Sweden's Victoria Larsson in the third-place playoff (15-11).

Filimonova's Russia won the team gold too. The day's winner, Victoria Ostapetsa and Alina Fazylzyanova added up to the 204 hits that gave first place to their country.

Francesca Del Prete, Chiara Di Marziantonio, and Giorgia Mercolini won the team silver medal for Italy as they hit 184 targets together.

The Czech Republic came in third thanks to Anna Sindelarova, Hana Adamkova, and Martina Papackova's 176 hits.
25m Pistol Women Junior

The Republic of Korea's Koh Eun beat Russia's Vitalina Batsarashkina by 7 to 1 points to win the women's 25m Pistol event.

Koh had entered the gold medal match after winning the semifinal with 17 hits.

Batsarashkina had closed her semifinal in a tie for second place with India's Gauri Sheoran. The Russian shooter won the shoot-off, and advanced to the final -- making her way to the silver medal.

Sheoran joined France's Mathilde Lamolle in the bronze medal match, which the French shooter won easily with a score of 8 to 2 points.

Lamolle had won a gold medal at last year's World Championship in Granada.

Russia came atop the team sta
ndings with 1726 points and 52 inner tens. Other than Batsarashkina, the silver medalist, also Margarita Lomova and Natalia Ordina contributed to bring their country to first place.

Korea came in second (1726 - 41x), thanks to gold medalist Koh, Jung Heeji, and Kim Jungah.

India took the team bronze (1719 - 37x). Sheoran, Shreya Gawande, and Chinki Yadav were the athletes who stepped up to the podium for their country's third place.
