For the first time, there will be junior finals, tomorrow at the Granada World Championship. 50m Pistol Men and 10m Air Rifle Women will follow

Three events will take place on the second day of the ISSF World Championship in Granada, Spain, after Men's 10m Air Rifle opened the competition this afternoon, as China's Yang Haroan took over the first gold.

Men's Junior 50m Pistol will be the very first time for junior finals to be staged in the ISSF history. Qualifications will start at 9 AM (UTC/GMT +2) and the final will be at 12 PM. Bulgaria's Aleksandar Todorov and Armenia's Zaven Igityan, who came respectively fourth and fifth at the latest Youth Olympics, are in the start list.

It will then come to the senior format of the same event. Qualifications at Men's 50m Pistol will begin at 11:15 AM, whereas the final will kick off at 2 PM. Reigning World Champion Tomoyuki Matsuda of Japan will try to defend his title. Among the favorites, there will also be 10m Air Pistol World Cup title holder Andrea Amore of Italy, as well as gold medalist at Nanjing 2014 Pavlo Korostylov of Ukraine. Pablo Carrera of Spain will be the medal hope for the host country. Italy's Luca Tesconi, who had won an Olympic Silver medal at London 2012, will try to get a ticket to Rio 2016, just like 2012 Olympic Bronze medalists Wang Zhiwei of China and Andrija Zlatic of Serbia. China's Pang Wei, gold at Beijing 2008, will be there, too. (See full start list.)

The day will close with Women's 10m Air Rifle. The qualifications, to start at 12 PM, will feature such Olympic heroes as Serbia's Ivana Maksimovic (an Athlete Role Model in Nanjing), Czech Republic's Adela Sykorova and Katerina Emmons, as well as China's Yi Siling. Spotlight will also shine on Singapore's Martina Veloso, the youngest World Cup gold medallist ever. Italy's Sabrina Sena will be a contender, too, after winning her very first medal in Munich last June. “I still don't know if I will be [at the World Championship in Granada],” Sabrina had then said. Now, there she is.
