Antonio Bailon's gold medal in the Trap Men final closed the second day of the ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun in Munich, Germany. The competition will continue tomorrow, when 10m Air Rifle finals will take place for both men and women, respectively at 1:15PM and 2:30PM (CEST); the qualification rounds will start in the morning.
Yesterday, the first day of the World Cup, Victoria Burch of the USA had defeated her teammate Janessa Beaman in the Trap Women gold medal match by 15-14. In the race to the bronze, Alessandra Perilli of San Marino had had the best of her sister Arianna (14-11) – in an unusual family contest.
Today, Spain was at the highest step of the Trap Men podium thanks to Antonio Bailon, who beat Italy's Massimo Fabbrizi (15-14) in the most important medal match. Fehaid Aldeehain of Kuwait took third place, overtaking Great Britain's Edward Ling (15-14).
The competition will speed up considerably in the next week, with 11 events in 4 days – starting on Monday with 50m Pistol Men, 25m Pistol Women and Double Trap Men; on Tuesday, it will come to 50m Rifle Prone Men and 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men; Wednesday will be about 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women, 10m Air Pistol Men and Skeet Women on Wednesday; finally, 10m Air Pistol Women, 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men and Skeet Men will close the World Cup on Thursday.
