The Italian team finished atop of the medal standings of the 2013 ISSF Shotgun World Championship, which was held at the Captain FAP Josè Quinones Shooting Range of Lima, Peru.
The best shotgun shooters of the world, 400 athletes coming from 55 countries, competed there in Skeet, Trap and Double Trap events from the 16th through the 24th of September.
The competition was officially closed today, after the Trap Men final, by the ISSF Technical Delegate for this competition, Mr. Carlos Silva Monterroso.
Team Italy, boosted by the two individual victories of Jessica Rossi and Giovanni Pelleilo in the Trap Men and Women events, ended up atop of the medal-board with a total of 17 medals, including 8 Gold (3 individual titles and 5 team titles).
The United States of America followed in second place, with an overall number of 8 medals, including three individual Gold medals and two teams Gold. Czech Republic followed in third place, with five medals.
One new World Record was scored by the Italian Skeet Women team, with 215 targets, while it was the 16-year old Skeet champ Amber Hill of Great Britain who set a new Junior World Record of 74 hits out of 75 targets, shattering the prvious 71-hit record. Three more world records were equalled during the championship, all in skeet events (scroll down for details).
