The Chinese team, supported by a crowd of spectators following every final match, finished atop of the overall medal standings, securing three Gold, four Silver and two Bronze medals, for a total of nine podiums. The home team exploited the home court advantage, leading the 10 meters finals. China’s three Gold medals came indeed from the 10m Air Rifle Women, the 10m Air Pistol Women and the 10m Air Rifle Men events.
Korea placed in second, pushed up in the medal standings by the Olympic Champion of Beijing Jin Jong Oh, who secured two Gold medals. The Pistol legend won with ease both the 50 meters and the 10 meters Pistol events, leaving no chances to his opponents.
The United States of America finished in third, with a total of three medals, one Gold, one Silver and one Bronze. The Olympic multi-medallist Rifle shooter Matthew Emmons leaded the 50m Rifle Three Positions Men event, winning the title and the applauses of the Chinese spectators, that “forgot” their finalists to cheer up for the American “It’s an emotion I cannot describe. The Chinese supporter made me feel like I was at home.” He said signing autograph after the medal ceremony.
