ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol · Munich, GER

This is her third medal back to back in 2018, between world cup and junior world cup stages.

Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yiung-Shin won today’s 10m Air Rifle Women final at the 2018 ISSF Wolrd Cup in Rifle and Pistol events in Munich, Germany.

The 19-year old athlete scored 250.3 points to climb atop of the podium, and to collect her first world cup gold medal ever.

“I can’t believe it, I am so happy. I started shooting during my high-school studies and I never imagined I could reach these results.”

Just one year ago, at the world cup held here in Munich, Lin had finished in 43rd place. This year, she started off the season by winning a Junior World Cup silver medal in Sydney, and then claimed a silver in the open category at the ISSF World Cup stage 2 in Changwon, Republic of Korea. Today’s was her third world cup / junior world cup medal in a row.

“I have been working hard, training a lot, in the last year, and results are paying off” she commented, “now I will focus on the Asian Games, and then of course on the 2020 Olympics.”

She beat today’s silver medalist Wu Mingyang of the People’s Republic of China, who finished in second place with 249.8 points, claiming her second world cup medal back to back after her victory in Fort Benning, two weeks ago.

First-time finalist Rikke Maeng Ibsen of Denmark, 27, took the bronze medal with 229.0 points, gaining her very first ISSF medal in career, besting India’s Apruvi Chandela (4th with 205.4 points) and China’s third finalist Wang Luyao (5th with 186.1 points).

The fourth stage of this year’s ISSF World Cup Series is held in Munich from the 22nd through the 28ht of May, and takes place at the historic Olympian Schiessanlage in Hochbruck, the 1972 Olympic venue.
