The Azerbaijan Ministry of Youth and Sport has awarded the Azerbaijan Shooting Federation first place in the category of organisation of events in the country.
Baku hosted the ISSF World Championship from August 14 to September 1 this year.
A total of 101 countries, and 1,249 athletes, took part in an event that doubled as a qualification event for the Paris 2024 Games.
China topped the medals table with 28, including 15 golds, with Ukraine second, India third, Switzerland fourth and the United States fifth.
Second place in the Sports Ministry’s rankings was the international event held by the Azerbaijan Canoe Federation, and third place went to the Taekwondo World Championships.
ISSF President Luciano Rossi and the Executive Committee have congratulated the federation on a memorable event that will live long in the history books.
