Americans won 6 medals in Lima

5 medals took India, 2 - Italy, 1 - Belarus, France, Spain, Germany and Turkey.

Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun started in Lima, Peru. Around 400 athletes from more than 30 countries participate in the competition.

 

The President  of the Peruvian National Sport Shooting Federation Mr. Francisco Boza had a warm welcome speech at the Opening ceremony: «Dear shooting family, in behalf of our Federation and OC, I would like to say a special thanks to Mr. Vladimir Lisin, President of the ISSF to make this Junior World Championship in Lima in 2021 a reality. All the success for the athletes, they are the reason  of our sport. Thanks for all involved, juries, referees, volunteers, family members and collaborators. Welcome to our house Lima, Peru».

 

The first finals took place at the Junior World Championship Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun Finals in Lima, Peru. Today athletes competed for medals in the first finals in 6 Olympic events.

 

Athletes from the United States of America won 2 medals in the 10m Air Rifle Men Junior. The victory was won by Olympic champion Tokyo 2020 William SHANER, who in a bitter struggle defeated Rudrankksh Balasaheb PATIL from India. For Rudrankksh Balasaheb PATIL this is the debut World Championship, where he immediately won Silver. Rylan William KISSELL from USA took third place at his first WCh.

 

The destiny of the Gold medal was decided only during shoot-off in the 10m Air Rifle Women Junior. Oceanne MULLER from France and Mary Carolynn TUCKER from USA showed the same result in 24 final shots. The French MULLER was more precisely and defeated the vice-champion of Tokyo-2020 Mary Carolynn TUCKER. The third place was taken by the debutante of the World Championship Ramita RAMITA from India.

 

Two female athletes from India, Manu BHAKER and Esha SINGH, won Gold and Silver in the 10m Air Pistol Women Junior. The third place was taken by Yasemin Beyza YILMAZ from Turkey.

 

In 10m Air Pistol Men Junior, the victory was won by Abdul-Aziz KURDZI from Belarus, which was more accurate than Martin FREIJE TORNEIRO from Spain and Eduard BAUMEISTER from Germany. Martin and Eduard took the second and third places, respectively.

 

Team USA won the second Gold for themselves - Alishia Fayth LAYNE won the Skeet Women Junior in a bitter struggle in the shoot-off. Debutante of the World Championship Alishia Fayth LAYNE was more accurate there than Ganemat SEKHON from India, which became the second. Third place went to Sara BONGINI from Italy.

 

In Skeet Men Junior, the two highest awards were won by the Americans. Elijah Keith ELLIS took first place and Jordan Douglas SAPP won Silver. The third was Cristian GHILLI from Italy.
