VAR and Fair Play dominate in Lonato

ISSF World Cup Shotgun · Lonato, ITA

At the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Lonato, Italy, athletes competed for medals in the Skeet Mixed Team event which is included in the 2024 Olympic Games program.

The fate of the gold medal was decided by VAR (Video Assistant Referee) which was twice requested by the American team consisting of Vincent HANCOCK and Amber ENGLISH during the gold medal match. The VAR system showed that targets were in fact hit and the Americans were victorious. The second place went to Chiara CAINERO and Tammaro CASSANDRO from Italy. Another American team, Phillip Russell JUNGMAN and Austen Jewell SMITH, won bronze.

-It’s an awesome final, specially that I can compete with my teammate. I used to compete with guys all the time but with a woman it’s fun, it’s different. I’ve never done it before. So it’s my first experience, - told the winner Vincent HANCOCK after the Final.

Finals in Trap Men and Trap Women will be held on May 14 and will be broadcasted live on the ISSF Internet resources.
