China rules the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team final, takes Gold and Bronze

Song Buhan and Wu Mingyang pocketed the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team trophy in New Delhi, besting Serbia’s Milutin Stefanovic and Andrea Arsovic at the end of a tight battle. Sui Gengcheng and Shi Mengyao also brought the Chinese flag on the podium, placing 3rd and taking Bronze medal.

The first ISSF World Cup Final trophy in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event was awarded to the People’s Republic of China, who placed both of their teams in the final and eventually grabbed the title with 20-year-old Song Buhan and 20-year-old Wu Mingyang.

 

Song and Wu battled all along the final match with Serbian shooters Milutin Stefanovic (32) and Andrea Arsovic (30), swapping positions more than once and definitely taking the lead only towards the end of the match.

 

The two Chinese youngsters pocketed the Gold medal and the ISSF crystal globes with the final score of 499.8 points, while Stefanovic and Arsovic finished with 496.8 and the Silver medals around their neck.

 

The podium was competed by the second Chinese team who participated: after qualifying with the highest score, in fact, 19-year-old Sui Gengcheng and 19-year-old Shi Mengyao took Bronze with 430.3 total points.

 

Despite suffering a 2.0-point penalty at the end of the second series, India’s Deepak Kumar (29) and Meghana Sajjanar (23) survived a tie-breaking shoot-off to determine 5th place, eventually finishing in 4th with 387.4 total points.

 

The Islamic Republic of Iran was the first team to be eliminated from the match, as 35-year-old Hossein Bagheri and 35-year-old Elaheh Ahmadi lost the aforementioned shoot-off against India and finished in 5th position with 345.9 points.
