Medals keep coming for Italy in Porpetto: Buccolieri and Palmitessa take Trap Mixed Team Gold

After pocketing four of the six medals up for grabs in the two individual events, the Italy placed both of their teams in the Gold medal match of the Trap Mixed test event. Team India 1 also climbed atop the podium and secured Bronze.

A Trap Mixed Team test event took place today at the Porpetto Shooting Range, where the ISSF Junior World Cup kicked off two days ago.

 

The host country Italy, winner of four individual medals out of the women’s and men’s Trap Junior events, also placed both teams in today’s Gold medal match: team Italy 1, composed by Emanuele Buccolieri and Maria Lucia Palmitessa, and team Italy 2, composed by Alberto Belluzzo and Erica Sessa.

 

After a balanced start, Buccolieri and Palmitessa took the lead of the match in the second half, finishing with 41 target hits against the 37 scored by Belluzzo and Sessa, and climbing atop the podium.

 

In the previous Bronze medal match, Lakshay Lakshay and Manisha Keer of team India 1 prevailed over Sevin Edward Layer and Emma Lee Williams of team USA 1, finishing in 3rd place thanks to a narrow 34-to-33 win.

 

Team China 2 and team Great Britain 1 were eliminated at semifinal stage, as Liu Chengjiang and Wang Chunchun placed 3rd in the first one with  total hits, while Theo Andrew Ling and Augusta Rose Campos-Martyn finished in 3rd position in the second one.

The ISSF Junior World Cup Shotgun in Porpetto (ITA) will continue tomorrow with the men’s Double Trap Junior final scheduled at 4:30 pm (UTC+2:00) and the women’s Skeet Junior final taking place at 6:00 pm. Both matches will be streamed live on the ISSF website, on the Federation’s Livestream channel and on its official Facebook page.
