Countdown to ISSF World Cup Finals

Less then one month left to go the beginning of the 2009 ISSF World Cup Finals in Shotgun, Rifle and Pistol events. Champions, title defenders and World Cup Series leaders will meet in China fighting for podiums starting from the 24th of October.

The countdown to the ISSF World Cup Finals runs fast, when less then one month is left to go to the start of the closing World Cup event of the year.

ISSF World Cup Finals will kick-off the 24th of October in Wuxi, China, where the Rifle and Pistol Finals will take place through the 29th of October. Then the ISSF World Cup Series will move to the Olympic venue of Beijing, where the Shotgun Finals will be held from the 29th of October through the 3rd of November.


Facing the title defenders and the World Championship medallists, the best shooters of this year’s ISSF World Cup Series will meet in China questing for the ultimate medals of the season. Check who made it to the Finals!


999 shooters participated so far.

Since the ISSF World Cup Finals formula was established in 1988, 999 shooters qualified and took part in it, including 621 men and 378 women.

The German record-man Ralf Schumann, the most successful Rapid Fire Pistol shooter of the world, took part in nineteen editions of the ISSF World Cup Finals, missing the first edition in 1988, becoming the athletes with the highest participating in this competition.

Following him, the Sloveniann Rifle master Rajmond Debevec, medallist of the last Olympic Games, shot in eighteen different World Cup Finals, starting in 1989.

Maria Grodzeva, the Pistol shooter who achieved two Olympic Gold and three Olympic Bronze medals, is the first Women of our “Multi-Participation Chart”. The 37-year old Bulgarian athlete has participated in seventeen editions of ISSF World Cup Finals, winning seven different medal throughout the last twenty years. Giovanni Pellielo of Italy is the first Shotgun shooter of the chart. The 39-year old Trap Shooter took part in sixteen different ISSF World Cup Final editions, finishing on the podium twelve times and winning the title seven times.
