The 5th ISSF Academy A-Course took place in Finland

The course was held from the 5th to the 15th of December 2017 in Kuortane (FIN), where ten coaches attended the 40-hour class.

The 5th ISSF Academy A-Course for Coaches License was held at the end of last year — from December 5th to December 15th — in Kuortane (FIN).

Ten coaches participated to the course, which tested their coaching skills with over forty hours of presentations and reviews, taken under the supervision of Academy head tutors Dr. Kevin Kilty of Ireland, Dr. Zeljko Todorovic of Montenegro, Mr. Kimmo Yli-Jaskari of Finland and Prof. Claudio Robazza of Italy.

The participnts were tasked with maintaining a coaching diary for the 2017 shooting sport season, also undertaking a research project with a shooting related theme.

During the course the coaches attended a series of workshops where tasks related to high performance coaching were tested, while the course concluded on its final day with a written examination.

“It’s the most difficult course I have ever attended and I suppose it should be this difficult as it is the highest coaching licence of the ISSF. It makes you appreciate the license even more,” said course participant Chea Rong Lim of Singapore.

Dr. Kevin Kilty, head tutor of the ISSF Academy, spoke of the professionalism of the coaches: “I’m delighted with the work that the coaches have undertaken this week. It is not easy to scale the heights of the A license, and the dedication and professionalism that was shown this week makes me certain that the Academy is delivering quality coaches at every license level.”
