First World Shooting Para Sport World Cup Shotgun held in Lonato

From September 12th to September 16th, 60 athletes represented 16 different countries at the World Cup, where Para Trap officially joined the World Shooting Para Sport program.

The first World Shooting Para Sport World Cup dedicated to Shotgun events took place at the Concaverde Shooting Range in Lonato (ITA), where 60 shooters from 16 nations gathered from September 12th to September 17th. 

 

Competing for the first time under the flag of the International Paralympic Committee, the governing body of all World Shooting Para Sport competitions, the athletes battled in three different categories of the Para Trap event: SG-S, SG-L and SG-U.

 

In the SG-S category, Abdolreza Tavasolikah of the Islamic Republic of Iran secured the Gold medal with 40 hits out of 50 targets, followed in 2nd position by Great Britain’s Matthew Goodwin, who hit 34. The Bronze medal was taken by Italy’s Oreste Lai, who finished with 26 crushed clays out of 40.

 

The SG-L category saw two Italian shooters claiming the top-2 positions, as Saverio Cuciti won Gold with 42 target hits out of 50, and his teammate Alessandro Spagnoli finished in 2nd place with 40. The podium was then completed by Vesa Jarvinen of Finland, who claimed the Bronze medal with 30 clay hits out of 40.

 

Finally, in the SG-U category, Meliton Antonio Brinas Moras of Spain pocketed the brightest medal with 38 target hits, with Italy’s Francesco Nespeca placing 2nd with 35 and Denmark’s Kim Poul Nyby closing in 3rd position with 28 out of 40.
