All 18 Russian shooters cleared by the Review Panel to compete in Rio

The IOC confirmed to the ISSF that the 18 qualified Russian Shooting Sport athletes are eligible to participate in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Committee informed the International Shooting Sport Federation that the Review Panel - composed of the three IOC EB members Uğur Erderner, Claudia Bokel and Juan Antonio Samaranch - confirmed the eligibility of the 18 Russian athletes qualified to compete in Rio 2016 shooting sport events.

On the 26th of July, the ISSF Executive Committee had unanimously voted confirming that all 18 Russian athletes fulfilled the criteria set by the IOC further to its Executive Board meeting decision of Sunday July 24th. The ISSF Headquarter had then submitted all necessary documents to the IOC as requested for its evaluation and decision.

 

The first Shooting Sport competition of Rio 2016 – the women’s 10m Air Rifle – will take place on the 6th of April, assigning the very first gold medal of this Olympic edition at 10.30 AM.
