Alleged interferences in the campaign for the election of the ISSF President

The ISSF will investigate into alleged interferences in the campaign for the election of the ISSF President in the 2014 General Assembly.

On 2 December 2014 several journalists reported about alleged governmental interferences with the aim to influence the outcome of the election of the ISSF President held on 3 December 2014 (see e.g. http://www.insidethegames.biz/sports/summer/shooting/1024131-exclusive-issf-presidential-candidate-accused-of-using-government-position-to-try-to-influence-election).

Such alleged governmental interference could violate the ISSF and the IOC Code of Ethics as well as the UN Resolution passed in October 2014 which explicitly grants autonomy to sport organizations in relation to national governments. The ISSF is going to investigate these allegations and is going to decide about possible consequences in due course.

ISSF Members reported about further irregularities in adition to the govermental interference during the election campaign which the competent ISSF bodies are also going to investigate. The ISSF will very seriously fight against any violations of the ISSF or IOC Code of Ethics.
