C 18 Course for Coaches brings big attendance and great experience to Montenegro

‏The ISSF Training Academy's C18 course for international coaches was held in Bar, Montenegro between 16th and 22nd of October

The course is the first time in over ten years that the Academy has returned to the coastal town of Bar. With 30 coaches attending the C18 and with some of the coaches staying on for the follow up IOC Course on training systems development, there was a very positive environment for the duration of the course.

‏The course was lead by ISSF tutors Mr. Zeljko Todorovic (MNE), Mr. Kimmo Yli-Jaskari (FIN), Mr. Kevin Kilty (IRL) and Prof. Claudio Robazza (ITA). With a full programme of lectures and workshops covering the shooting techniques and sport science, many of the students reported positively on the experience.

‏"I am delighted to have been here for this course as I have learnt so much from the lecturers and I know I can make great use of the knowledge that they have given me." spoke Mohammed Al Mahroqi from Oman. Maxime Coursimault of France also spoke of the benefits of the course "It is a great opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and knowledge with the other coaches."

‏Course tutor Mr. Kevin Kilty spoke highly of the students attending the course. "I am really impressed with the quality of coaches attending our Academy courses. They are passionate about our sport and of coaching. I really see the future development of our athletes is in great hands."

The coaches also took up an invitation from course tutor Mr. Zeljko Todorovic to visit his training centre Club Mornar in the town of Bar. Whilst at the centre there was much discussion about the benefits of training camps and the practical aspects of the work of coaching. Afterwards Mr. Todorovic spoke enthusiastically of the visit, "It was excellent to see so many coaches interested in the workings of a very active shooting training centre. We spoke of the importance of structured training and benefits of doing that within the structure of intensive training camps. I know many of the coaches are interested in such centres and this approach to training and if we have helped to plant a seed in their minds then I am delighted."

The C18 course is followed by the IOC Training Systems Development Course which starts on the 23rd and runs till the 28th October.
